Can you tell us a bit more about you?
My name is Kirsten and I am a 26-year-old fashion and style blogger from Melbourne, Australia. When I began my social accounts, I was actually a full-time teacher and I used them as a way to express my style away from the 9-5 life. I have recently resigned from my position and have gone freelance as a blogger. I am in the early stages of creating my own label. Watch this space!
Can you tell us a bit more about The Fashion Faddist?
My blog The Fashion Faddist was created as an outlet to express my creativity and share the love for fashion, styling, travel and general lifestyle.
When your passion for fashion starts?
It's hard for me to pinpoint an exact moment that I began to love fashion. I remember when I was growing up I was always over-invested in what I was wearing, just loved going shopping and dressing up. Even as young as the early primary school I would choose my own outfits (often based off something the Olsen twins wore). My dream career was a 'fashion designer'. In high school, I would spend hours pouring over fashion magazines and creating my own clothing designs.
Can you describe your community?
I absolutely adore my followers. It still blows my mind that so many of them are interested in what I wear and my style choices. My followers are amazingly positive, most being women, but I do have a few guys who follow me too (with great style might I add). The majority are based in Australian cities such as Melbourne and Sydney, but I also have a large following in London.
How would you describe your style, image, storytelling?
My style is very minimal, sticking to a colour palette of black, white, grey and denim with an exception of colour pop every now and then (depending on what mood I'm in). I always alternate between a styled outfit post and a lifestyle shot such as a flat lay or scenery.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw so much inspiration from fellow bloggers. It is amazing the imagery and creativity that is shared on social media. I also love to use magazines and books to inspire or even some of my favourite quotes. If I'm having a big mental block I like to head outdoors. There is nothing like nature to reinvigorate you as well as the general movement and shapes of objects and people.
What are your biggest accomplishments?
Personally, my biggest accomplishment is getting to work with brands that I love every single day. I would also say taking the leap into going freelance. I am a big over-thinker so this was a big step for me!
Where do you usually like to go to chill/take a drink/party, dance?
Oh my gosh this is a hard one as I don't go out drinking as much as I used to (haha), but anywhere with good cocktails is a must. To chill, I really love to go for a walk down to the South Melbourne market with my boyfriend and grab a black coffee and a fresh bunch of flowers.
What is your favourite place to travel?
Hands down it would have to be New York!
What is your motto in life?
"Whatever will be, will be". It's a little reminder to myself that I cannot control or predict the future!
